The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is a visa pathway designed to help New Zealand employers fill skill shortages by recruiting skilled workers from overseas. The AEWV allows foreign workers to live and work in New Zealand when sponsored by a New Zealand employer who is accredited with Immigration New Zealand.
👉 Foreign nationals who have a job offer from an accredited employer in New Zealand.
👉 Applicants must meet skill and experience requirements for the specific job being offered.
👉 They must also satisfy health and character requirements and may need to meet English language requirements for certain roles.
👉 The AEWV allows workers to live and work in New Zealand for the duration of their employment contract, typically up to three years.
👉 It provides an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in New Zealand and potentially qualify for other visa pathways like residency.
👉 Partners and dependent children may be eligible to apply for visas to join the primary visa holder in New Zealand.
👉 It offers workers a chance to transition into permanent residency if they qualify under the relevant criteria in the future.
👉 Secure a job offer from a New Zealand employer who is accredited with Immigration New Zealand.
👉 Gather necessary documents including:
➡️ Valid passport.
➡️ Proof of job offer and employment contract.
➡️ Qualifications, work experience, and character and health certificates.
👉 Submit an online application through the Immigration New Zealand website or use a Visa Application Centre if available.
👉 Pay the visa application fee and provide any biometrics if requested.
👉 Wait for approval and receive the visa, which will allow you to start work as soon as you enter New Zealand.
👉 The AEWV generally allows a maximum stay of three years. However, after three years, workers on lower-paid positions may need to leave New Zealand for 12 months before reapplying for the AEWV.
👉 Workers on higher-paid roles may be eligible to apply for a new AEWV without leaving New Zealand or pursue pathways to residency.
