The Post Study Work Visa allows international students who have completed an eligible qualification in New Zealand to stay and work for a specified period. This visa provides a great opportunity for graduates to gain practical work experience and potentially qualify for residency.
👉 International students who have successfully completed a Level 7 qualification or higher (such as a bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diploma, or master’s degree) from an approved New Zealand education provider.
👉 Students who completed Level 4 to 6 qualifications (such as a diploma or certificate) may also be eligible if their qualification meets specific criteria related to New Zealand’s education system and regional needs.
👉 The qualification must have been completed after at least 30 weeks of study in New Zealand.
👉 Applicants must meet health and character requirements.
👉 Work rights in New Zealand for up to three years, depending on the level of qualification completed.
👉 Open work visa, meaning you can work for any employer in almost any job (though some exceptions apply for certain industries).
👉 Opportunity to gain valuable New Zealand work experience in the field you studied.
👉 Possibility to apply for permanent residency later on, depending on your job and qualifications.
👉 If you’re working in a highly skilled role, you may be able to transition to a more permanent visa or the Skilled Migrant Category.
👉 Complete your qualification from an approved New Zealand institution.
👉 Gather the required documents, including:
➡️ A valid passport.
➡️ Proof of your qualification (e.g., certificate, transcript).
➡️ Evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself (NZD 5,000 for living costs).
➡️ Medical and police certificates (if required).
👉 Apply online through the Immigration New Zealand website or submit a paper application via a Visa Application Centre.
👉 Pay the visa application fee and provide any necessary biometrics.
