The MFAT-funded NZ Scholarship Student Visa is for international students who have been awarded a scholarship funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). It allows recipients to study full-time at an approved educational institution in New Zealand as part of the government’s effort to foster international relations and support global development.
👉 Students from eligible countries who have been awarded a New Zealand Government Scholarship through the MFAT.
👉 The scholarships are typically available to students from developing countries in the Pacific, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
👉 Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for the specific scholarship program, which often includes academic merit, work experience, and the potential to contribute to their home country’s development.
👉 Full tuition fees covered by the scholarship.
👉 Living allowance to cover basic living costs while studying in New Zealand.
👉 Health insurance for the duration of the study program.
👉 Travel costs for international flights to and from New Zealand.
👉 Academic and personal support from the educational institution to help students succeed in their studies.
👉 Post-graduation support, including potential opportunities to stay in New Zealand for further study or work.
👉 Students may be allowed to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during the academic year and full-time during holidays.
👉 Apply for and secure a scholarship through the New Zealand Government’s scholarship program (administered by MFAT). The application process for scholarships typically includes submitting academic records, a personal statement, references, and evidence of work experience or community involvement.
👉 Once you receive the scholarship, you will be nominated for the visa.
👉 Submit the required documents, including:
➡️ Proof of the scholarship award.
➡️ A valid passport.
➡️ Proof of enrolment in an approved course at a New Zealand institution.
➡️ Health and character certificates (if required).
👉 Apply online for the student visa via the Immigration New Zealand website or through the Visa Application Centre.
👉 Pay the visa application fee (if applicable) and submit biometrics (if required)
