Family Visa

Australia offers various Family Visas designed to reunite family members, including partners, parents, children, and other relatives. These visas provide a pathway for family members of Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia either temporarily or permanently. Here’s a brief description of the main types of family visas:

Partner Visa

a) Partner Visa (Onshore 820 & 801)

The Partner Visa (Onshore Subclass 820 and 801) is for individuals already in Australia. The Subclass 820 is a temporary visa that leads to the permanent Subclass 801 visa. It allows the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live in Australia, with the 801 visa granting permanent residency after the temporary stage.

b) Partner Visa (Offshore 309 & 100)

The Partner Visa (Offshore Subclass 309 and 100) is similar to the onshore partner visa, but it is applied for outside of Australia. The Subclass 309 is a temporary visa, and once granted, it leads to the permanent Subclass 100 visa after certain requirements are met.

c) Fiance Visa (SC 300)

The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300), also known as the Fiancé Visa, is for individuals planning to marry an Australian citizen or permanent resident. This visa allows the holder to enter Australia to marry their partner within 9 months and can lead to a partner visa after the marriage takes place.

Parent Visa

a) Contributory Parent Visa (SC 143)

The Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143) allows parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents to live permanently in Australia. Applicants pay a higher fee but have a faster processing time compared to other parent visas.

b) Contributory Parent Visa (SC 173 TEMP)

The Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 173) is a temporary visa that allows parents to live in Australia for up to two years. During this time, they can apply for the permanent Subclass 143 visa.

c) Contributory Aged Parent Visa (SC 884 TEMP)

The Contributory Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 884) is a temporary visa for older parents who can apply for permanent residency later. It allows aged parents (of retirement age) to stay in Australia temporarily while applying for the Subclass 864 visa.

d) Aged Parent Visa (SC 804)

The Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 804) is a permanent residency visa for elderly parents who meet the age requirements. Applicants must be onshore in Australia and can live there permanently once the visa is granted.

e) Parent Visa (SC 103)

The Parent Visa (Subclass 103) allows parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents to live permanently in Australia. The processing time for this visa is longer compared to contributory parent visas, but it is more affordable.

f) Sponsored Parent Visa (SC 870)

The Sponsored Parent Visa (Subclass 870) allows parents to live temporarily in Australia for up to 3 or 5 years. It can be renewed, providing a flexible option for parents who want to spend time with their children in Australia without applying for permanent residency.

Child Visa

a) Adoption Visa (SC 102)

The Adoption Visa (Subclass 102) allows children adopted by Australian citizens or permanent residents to live in Australia permanently. It is available for children adopted overseas, with specific criteria applying to the adoption process.

b) Child Visa (SC 101)

The Child Visa (Subclass 101) allows the biological, adopted, or stepchild of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live in Australia permanently. This visa is for children applying from outside Australia.

c) Child Onshore (SC 802)

The Child Visa (Subclass 802) is for children already in Australia who are the biological, adopted, or stepchild of an Australian citizen or permanent resident. It allows them to live permanently in Australia.

Relative Visa Options

a) Orphan Relative Visa (SC 117)

The Orphan Relative Visa (Subclass 117) is for children whose parents are deceased, unable to care for them, or missing, allowing them to live with a relative in Australia permanently.

b) Carer Visa (SC 116 & 836)

The Carer Visa (Subclass 116 & 836) is for individuals who need to move to Australia to provide long-term care for a relative with a medical condition. The Subclass 116 is for applicants outside Australia, and the Subclass 836 is for those already in Australia.

c) Relative Visa (SC 115)

The Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115) is for individuals whose only close family members are living in Australia. It allows them to move to Australia permanently to be with their family.

These family visa options are designed to help reunite family members and provide them with the opportunity to live, work, or study in Australia either temporarily or permanently.
