The CEC is designed for skilled workers who have gained Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. It’s part of the Express Entry system, along with the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Key Requirements:
👉 Canadian Work Experience: Must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada while on a temporary resident status (like a work permit).
👉 Express Entry Profile: Need to create and submit an Express Entry profile to be considered.
If you have no previous Canadian work experience, the CEC is not the right program for you. Consider other options like the Federal Skilled Worker Program or Provincial Nominee Programs.
The CEC is designed for skilled workers who have already gained Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. To be eligible, you must:
👉 Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before applying. This experience must be in a job that falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B.
👉 Have gained your work experience while authorized to work in Canada under temporary resident status (such as a work permit).
👉 Meet the minimum language proficiency requirements for your NOC level. This is typically Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 for NOC 0 or A, and CLB 5 for NOC B.
The CEC offers a pathway to permanent residency in Canada for those who have already demonstrated their skills and adaptability in the Canadian workforce. As a permanent resident, you can:
👉 Live, work, and study anywhere in Canada
👉 Access Canadian healthcare and social services
👉 Sponsor your family members for immigration
👉 Apply for Canadian citizenship after a certain period of residency
The application process for the CEC involves several steps:
👉 Assess your eligibility: Determine if you meet the requirements for the CEC.
👉 Gather supporting documents: This may include your work permit, employment letters, language test results, and proof of education.
👉 Create an online profile: Submit your application through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.
👉 Pay the application fee: Submit the required fees for processing your application.
👉 Provide biometric information: Attend a visa application center (VAC) to provide your fingerprints and photograph.
